Announcing Do-It-Yourself Round Robin!
Our guild is having its’ first ever Do-It-Yourself Round Robin quilt making activity! If you’ve always wanted to participate in a Round Robin but were scared of other people working on your quilt, this is the perfect opportunity for you, and there is no sign up necessary.
To start, you will choose the center of your quilt. This can be a pieced block, a panel, an appliqued design you’ve made, or really anything your heart desires. (I’m using an owl from a panel that I cut out and appliqued onto a different background, and Maresa is using a dog panel, both pictured below.) You can use any size center you want and make any size quilt you want!
At the June Guild meeting, and then again every other month, we will give you instructions for the method you need to use to construct your next border. You can use as little or as much of this method as you like in that border. In total you will have four borders that can be as narrow or as wide as you want to make them, just as long as they contain the proper method. And you are welcome to add plain borders in between, whatever is aesthetically pleasing to you.
The last instructions will be given out in December, so by the February guild meeting you should all be finished with your Round Robin Quilt Top. We can’t wait to see what everyone has created for this fun and interesting activity.

Do-it-Yourself Round Robin – First Border The FIRST BORDER around your center should be made with PAPER PIECING! You can have any amount of paper piecing in this border, and you can choose to use Foundation Paper Piecing or English Paper Piecing as your method (or a combination!!!). This border can be any width that you choose. You will have two months to complete this border, with instructions for the next border announced at the August QGET meeting. Here are examples of Lisa’s and Maresa’s centers and first borders: |
