Come join us for a Sit & Sew day and get to know our new members, our Board members, and any other members who attend. All members are welcome and you can work on any project that you choose. In August, we have a unique opportunity to experience the joy, peace, and relaxation of hand stitching. Free introduction in the lobby after guild meeting.

“Stitched in Time”

This workshop will have something to challenge every level of expertise in the art of Sashiko. Materials kit required - see below.

Projects:

1. Starting with the basic rhythm of unshin, we will make a simple Boro piece “patching”. Unshin means the rhythm of the stitch.

Bring a small (3"x3") piece of embroidery, handwork, quilted fabric, or similar to incorporate into the piece such as the Lady Liberty embroidery shown.

2. Move on to Hitomezashi weaving that can be used as a button.

3. The last piece will start on a pre-made Sashiko fabric, and the student will learn the decorative stitches in the pattern to form a tree.

Your Kit Includes: costs $35

● fabrics

● printed patterns

● hand thimble

● Sashiko needles long and short

● threads of different weights

● a button

● heat erase marker

● wash away printed fabric

What You Will Need to Provide:

● scissors

● a 12-20 inch ruler

● a piece of handwork, or a small quilt square (no bigger than 3”x3”)

Annieʼs most popular Workshop!

Every quilter thinks that they have a problem with color – when in fact, they need to know more about fabric. Learn exactly what draws the eye to interesting quilt designs and patterns, giving them life.

We discuss keys to effective fabric selection in the Color Sense workshop, a no-sew, hands-on workshop with a demo where we play with fabric and learn the best tools to assist in our quest for color, and students build paste-up blocks from their stash.

Learn to apply design rules when choosing fabrics for quilts to enhance your own color and fabric intuition. Students create a resource binder that they will use again and again.

Understanding the points taught in this workshop will make all the difference in your future quilts and give you a new sense of color confidence.
