April Morning & Night Meetings

Pebble Rhem will be our guest speaker. Her lecture will be The Ugly Fat Quarter. She has challenged us to bring a piece of fabric we consider ugly — it show be at least a fat quarter in size or a large scrap. You can either donate it to a drawing or have it back.

Pebble’s Blooming Nine Patch class is on Friday, April 11, 2008 from 9 am to 4 pm. This is a beautiful quilt and an exercise in color and blending of fabrics that you would never put together — seeing the end results is truly amazing. There are openings for this class. The class will be at Pollard Methodist in the craft room. Pebble will meet with anyone signed up for her class on Thursday before the Guild meeting begins or afterwards to help you with your fabric coordination. There are specific lengths of fabric required for each row (see supply list), so bring your stack of fabric and met with Pebble — it should be a blast.

Terri Vogds will be our guest speaker. She will have a trunk show and lecture on the ruler she developed, the Easy Twist. Her ruler gives your block a twist. I see wonderful baby and kids quilts with her technique, but it is only limited by your imagination. Terri will also speak at the night meeting. Her class is $30 and will be at Pollard Methodist on May 9, 2008, from 9 am to 3 pm. Class openings are available.

June Morning Meeting

Karen Kay Buckley, an award winning quilter known for her appliqué, paper piecing and machine quilting, will be our speaker. She will provide a lecture, From the Beginnings: Album of a Quilter. I have chosen her class Vegetable Garden, in which you will make a wonderful wall quilt with six different vegetables. In this class you will learn mock hand appliqué on a machine, machine piecing, and satin stitching. We will work on one block and receive detailed instructions on completing the quilt. The class will be on June 13, 2008, from 9 am to 3 pm, and will cost $30, plus pattern and supply fee. Do not miss this award winning teacher and her techniques!
